Short Take: Oracle ships database for handhelds

Oracle began shipping a version of its database designed specifically for handheld devices and personal digital assistants. Called Oracle Lite 3.5, the scaled down database is also a critical piece of Oracle's new extended Internet architecture, which seeks to use thin-client technology to run mobile computing applications. Other features in Lite 3.5 include support for Palm Computing and Windows CE platforms and integration with Oracle Mobile Agents.
