Short Take: Optical Networks buys Object-Mart

Equipment start-up Optical Networks announced it has acquired telecommunications management software provider Object-Mart, of San Jose, California, for an undisclosed combination of stock and cash. Both companies are privately held. Optical also announced the completion of inter-operability tests with optical equipment networking firm Cerent and 12000 series routing devices from data giant Cisco Systems. The company plans to announce test sites for its products next quarter, according to Hugh Martin, president and chief executive of the company.
