Short Take: Nokia, Ericsson make the connection

Nokia and Ericsson started testing the interoperability of their products which use the Wireless Application Protocol, or WAP. The purpose of the tests is to make WAP-based products and services, such as mobile phones and server products, compatible regardless of manufacturer. This may help establish WAP as a standard for mobile data communication. Both companies are founders of the WAP Forum, dealing with WAP interoperability.
