Netcom is trying to expand its global presence by tapping into an alliance of Internet service providers and telephone companies called Global Reach Internet Connection. Run by AimQuest, the alliance will help Netcom customers to get onto the Internet via more than 40 access providers around the world including ISPs in Singapore, Japan, China, Malaysia, Australia, Switzerland, and Spain. Netcom users will be able to access the service starting in the first quarter of 1997. They won't need special software to use the system.
