Short Take: NaviSite inks deals with Dell, Microsoft

Application service provider and Web hosting firm NaviSite--a majority-owned subsidiary of CMGI--has signed strategic agreements with Dell Computer and Microsoft, who have made investments for a 4.9 and 4.4 percent interest in NaviSite, respectively. Under the agreements, Dell is now a preferred server, storage, and PC provider for NaviSite. NaviSite will also be added to the list of ASPs that support Microsoft's Windows Media technologies, such as streaming video, and a possible future host of Microsoft applications that the firm would rent to customers.
