Short Take: Motorola appoints new chief information officer

Motorola, one of the top cell phone makers, has hired David R. Cox as a senior vice president and chief information officer, a newly created position. He comes from Bell Canada, where he was the CIO. In the mid-1990s, he worked for five years as CIO of Nortel Networks. He has also worked as chief strategy officer at Bank of Montreal, CEO of Toronto-based Castek Software Factory, and CEO of Laurentian Technology. He began his career in 1969 with IBM, where he served in both systems engineering and marketing positions.
