Short Take: LANart debuts redundant fiber NIC card

LANart Corporation today debuted the LANart 10/100 Fiber NIC, a redundant fiber NIC card that ensures access to mission-critical data through two fiber connections and enables workstations to migrate easily to Fast Ethernet. The company says its LANart 10/100 Fiber NIC is the first and only peripheral component interconnect (PCI) Ethernet/Fast Ethernet adapter to provide redundant fiber to the desktop. Offering simultaneous connections to 10Base-FL and 100Base-FX creates an alternate network connection in the event of a network problem. As corporations implement Fast Ethernet networks, existing Ethernet infrastructure can be used as a backup network. The product will be available in November and will cost $549 per unit.
