Zucotto Wireless, a start-up that builds chips to make Java more useful in gadgets such as cell phones, has named David Cary chief operating officer, the company said Thursday. Before he joined Zucotto in August, Carey worked at Composite Optics. In addition, Zucotto named David McCartney, formerly of RangeStar Wireless, to be executive vice president of sales. Zucotto, based in San Diego, is designing Xpresso, an as-yet unreleased chip to accelerate Java in small devices.
