Short Take: Iridium approves Kyocera phones

Satellite communications provider Iridium approved phones from Japan's Kyocera for use with its global satellite network. Kyocera has addressed the software issues that prevented the company from offering its handsets when Iridium launched its service in November. Poor handset availability limited the number of subscribers Iridium was able to sign up. Its service, powered by 66 low-Earth orbit satellites, allows customers to make and receive calls from anywhere on Earth.
