Intel will build an advanced logic wafer fabrication plant in Fort Worth, Texas, and an assembly/test plant in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Fort Worth site will cost $1.3 billion, open by 1999, and employ 800 workers. The Costa Rica site will cost $300 million, open in 1998, and employ 2,000 people. Intel also broke ground on its assembly/test plant in Shanghai, China, which had been announced last year.
