Short Take: HP, Nokia to develop printing via cell phones

Hewlett-Packard and Nokia announced Tuesday an agreement to develop mobile e-services, such as one that would allow a person with a mobile phone to print a document from the Web. Using concepts based on industry standards such as IR, vCard or Bluetooth, the mobile phones would send a URL to a Web-enabled printer. Nokia 9110 and 9110i Communicator phones currently have the capability to beam a URL using today's vCard and IR technology. HP printers supporting these evolving standards will be available next year.
