Short Take: FAA to post safety info

The Federal Aviation Administration said it will post some flight safety data on the Internet beginning February 1, but will not provide any ranking of airlines' safety records. The FAA will post to its Web site a listing of violations of safety laws by airlines, as well as reports of near collisions. Some of the information previously was available from Freedom of Information Act requests but typically was not granted. FAA officials are also considering making the information available by telephone, via a toll-free number.
