Short Take: Cryptography vendors join together

A group of technology firms, led by encryption leader RSA Data Security, have announced an alliance to try and unify cryptography approaches. The PICA (Platform Independent Cryptography API) alliance will address potential interoperability problems that may emerge as software from competing vendors integrate cryptography technology. Members of the alliance include Apple Computer, IBM, JavaSoft, Motorola, Netscape Communications, and Novell.
