Cisco Systems added support for asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) technology to several devices, including its Catalyst 8500 series multi-service switch router. Support for ATM is also being extended to the company's 2600, 3600, 7200, and 7500 series routing devices and MC3810 data traffic concentration technology. The ATM updates will be available next month. The enhancements follow a strategy shift for the firm, choosing to rework existing products rather than introduce new ATM technology.
