Short Take: BakBone offers storage software

BakBone Software has released North American versions of its NetVault software for managing storage, the company said. The software, which handles tasks such as data backup and recovery, uses a modular architecture intended to make it easy to extend with new features. NetVault, already available in Japan and Europe, runs on Windows, Unix and Linux and is designed to work well in storage area networks (SANs), the company said. NetVault was developed at Bell Laboratories while the labs still were part of AT&T.
