Short Take: Ascend grants $101 million in credit to BlueStar

Telecommunications equipment maker Ascend Communications has extended a $101 million line of credit to BlueStar Communications, a privately held digital subscriber line (DSL) provider. BlueStar, which currently offers high-speed data service in Tennessee and Kentucky, will use the line of credit to buy networking and DSL equipment to build out its DSL network in the southeastern United States. Ascend and BlueStar teamed for a $10 million financing package last year.
