Short Take: Ariba joining Nasdaq 100

Business-software maker Ariba will become a component of the Nasdaq 100 index effective at the beginning of trading Friday. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company will replace NTL, which is delisting from the Nasdaq stock market. Ariba competes against Commerce One and others who develop software for online marketplaces, or trading exchanges.
