Silicon Graphics announced that more than 20 technology providers, including 3Com, Bulldog, Cisco Systems, Progressive Networks, and Sony now support SGI's media-streaming solution, WebForce MediaBase 2.0. Also backing MediaBase, which offers scalable streaming media and content management, are Access Graphics, DSMC, Dynamix Professional Video Systems, Ephyx Technologies, Minerva Network Systems, OptiBase, Optivision, RABA Technologies, Sigma Designs, Tektronix, Televitesse, Duck Corporation, Thomson-CSF, VDOnet, Vela, Vosaic, VXtreme, Wired, Xing, and Z Microsystems. Available by July, MediaBase 2.0 server software costs from $2,000 for 10 concurrent users to $50,000 for 500 concurrent users.
