Short: HP announces external, portable tape drive

Hewlett-Packard announced a portable, external tape drive, the HP Colorado T4000es. It expands storage capacity to 4GB native and 8GB compressed using Travan mini-cartridge technology, and boosts speed and performance with SCSI-2. Users can back up a 1GB hard drive in 30 to 40 minutes. It supports DOS, Windows, Windows 95, and NT operating systems. The T4000es is targeted at "power" PC users, workgroups, and LANs. The T4000es will be available October 1 and costs $559. The optional SC50Q SCSI controller board is $65.
