SFX, a producer of live entertainment, says it has changed its name to Clear Channel Entertainment, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Worldwide. The New York City-based company says it appointed Steve Smith as executive vice president and chief operating officer, a newly created position. Clear Channel Entertainment also announced the creation of a TV division with new executive appointments including Mike Trager as chairman, Paula Balzer as chief marketing officer, Jeff Lewis as chairman for sports, Ed Stacey as executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer, and Dale Head as general counsel.
SFX was acquired by Clear Channel Worldwide in August 2000, according to a representative for Clear Channel Entertainment. Clear Channel Entertainment owns and operates 135 live entertainment venues, including 44 amphitheaters in the United States and 28 in Europe.
