Security software maker Network ICE acquired

Network-protection service provider Internet Security Systems announced it has signed an agreement to acquire security software maker Network ICE for $195 million in stock. San Mateo, Calif.-based Network ICE, maker of the Black Ice personal firewall software, will improve ISS' products for the desktop, said Christopher W. Klaus, founder and chief technology officer for Altanta, Ga.-based ISS. The company stated in a release that the purchase will not change the company's financial outlook for 2001.
