Samsung may need to reboot the entire Galaxy Note line.

With Samsung "temporarily adjusting" the production of the Note 7 in the wake of replacement units burning up, this particular family of phones may have lost all of its credibility. We discuss whether Samsung may be better off cutting its loss and starting fresh with a new brand.

It'll be a long time before we forget to link the Note brand with explosions and fire.

We also dig into the memes that emerged from last night's presidential debate, which pitted Hillary Clinton against Donald Trump for a second time.

Lastly, we talk about Samsung again, but in the context of its years-long legal battle with Apple. Both companies head to the Supreme Court to state their case on Tuesday.

The 3:59 gives you bite-size news and analysis about the top stories of the day, brought to you by the CNET News team in New York and producer Bryan VanGelder.
