Riding the TV waves

Wireless company BIFS Technologies released technology Monday that provides a new way of encoding high-speed Internet signals inside television signals. It is opening demonstrations of the service with ABC and NBC network affiliates in Montana, the company said. But it may be a little late to the party--several coalitions of television stations and broadcasters, including iBlast, Geocast Network Systems and Dotcast, have already coalesced around different versions of the same type of technology, and are far ahead in their testing and marketing programs.
