Last year we ran into a rare Tetris cartridge with an asking price of $1 million. Perhaps the gaming market really is sinking, because a rare Legend of Zelda cartridge is going for just $150,000 on eBay.
The prototype cartridge dates to 1987, the U.S. release year for the famous NES game. The cartridge is yellow with a plain white label reading "Legend of Zelda."
Seller tjcurtin1 takes pains to let potential buyers know this is not a joke listing. "This is without a doubt the pinnacle of my collection and I challenge anyone to come up with anything more important in the video game collecting scene," the seller writes.
The asking price is a hefty $150,000, but the seller is considering offers for less that amount. So far, there have been 27 offers, all of which have been declined.
If you're a die-hard Nintendo collector with deep pockets, then this could be the new crown jewel of your gaming hoard.
