Radio Shack exec joins AMD board

David Edmondson, president and COO of the retailer, has been elected to the board of the chipmaker.

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices on Tuesday announced that David Edmondson, president and chief operating officer of Radio Shack, was elected last week to its board of directors. Edmondson joined Radio Shack in 1994 as vice president of marketing and was appointed COO in December 2000.

"David's knowledge of consumers and particularly 'digital lifestyle' trends makes him a strong addition to a very solid board. He is joining a talented and well-rounded group of advisors whose expertise spans enterprise computing, finance, operations and corporate governance," Hector Ruiz, CEO and chairman of Sunnyvale, Calif.-based AMD, said in a statement.
