The bust is modeled after the giant 4-foot-tall (1.2-meter) bust of Snowden that was recently confiscated by the New York Police Department after artists affixed it to the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument in Brooklyn's Fort Greene Park.
The original bust of the former NSA contractor was placed on the war monument by art activists, who still wish to remain anonymous, to bring attention to NSA activities and to portray Snowden as an American war hero rather than a traitor, as . Snowden was after leaking 1.7 million classified US government documents to journalists.
The giant bust had been in police custody after it was taken down on April 6, and is currently on display at the Boiler gallery in Brooklyn.
