Precise Software buys WQuinn

Precise Software Solutions has acquired storage software company WQuinn for $35 million--$20 million in cash and the rest in stock, the companies said Wednesday. The value of the deal could increase depending on revenue from the WQuinn group, which sells software that can automate storage operations such as screening out some file types or set limits on how much space a consumer may have on networked storage. WQuinn's product is a part of a Microsoft Windows software kit used to let companies build special-purpose servers. As a result of the deal, Precise increased its current quarter expectations by $400,000 to $14.1 million and its operating loss expectations to $100,000, the company said.
