Pokemon Go's next update will let you walk Pokemon, coders find

Some digital sleuths have mined code from the game, potentially giving us a sneak peek at Pokemon Go's next big update.

It looks like Pokemon Go's next big feature has been unearthed. No, it's not Pokemon trading, but it's pretty nifty.

Some enterprising players at Go Hub mined data from the game showing a Buddy system that's been coded into Pokemon Go but not yet set live. It'll allow you to choose a Pokemon that'll walk alongside your avatar, earning you Pokemon candies in the process.

It's not yet known how many candies you'll be able to sweat out of your favourite critters per day, but code did show that some Pokemon would walk alongside you, others will fly and some will even sit on your shoulder. Candy, for the new Poketrainers out there, is what's used to evolve your Pokemon in the game.

This tool, if real, would be the second big, recent addition made to the game. Niantic last month updated Pokemon Go with the Appraisal feature, which teaches players about their Pokemon's battling readiness. It also tweaked the sightings function, which helps players track down nearby Pokemon.

Pokemon Go creator Niantic Labs did not respond to a request for comment.
