New 'Pirates of the Caribbean' teaser launches hunt for Jack Sparrow

What's a Johnny Depp movie trailer without Johnny Depp? Pretty moody and cool, actually.

Buckle your swashes and swab your decks, "Pirates of the Caribbean" fans. Disney debuted the new teaser trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" on Sunday night, and let's just say it makes pirate life look a whole lot creepier than the film's namesake theme park ride.

Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow often lightens up scenes from the "Pirates" series, with his cocky confidence and eccentric personality. But there's no Depp in this moody and grim teaser, just a wanted poster with his name and image on it, and a blood-oozing new villain on the hunt. Yep, that's Oscar winner Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, out after Sparrow and any other pirate who gets in his way.

But this is a "Pirates" movie -- the fifth, to be exact -- so it's still a little goofy. Salazar snarls at Brenton Thwaites' young Henry Turner to relay a warning to Sparrow, and it's pretty bone-chilling: "Death comes straight for him." But then he turns all sunshine and light, or at least as sunshiney as a smoldering pirate bad guy can be, inquiring, "Would you say that to him, please?"

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is scheduled to open in theaters worldwide in May.
