Pepsi, Britney take over Yahoo ad space

Pepsi-Cola has purchased every available media space on Yahoo to run a new commercial online, featuring Britney Spears singing "The Joy of Pepsi," two hours before its debut on national TV. The commercial, which is scheduled to air this weekend during the Academy Awards, will be available on Yahoo beginning Sunday at 3 p.m. PST. The commercial is set in a Pepsi bottling plant that "comes to life" when Spears and her co-workers "feel the joy of Pepsi." It also features cut-ins of viewers, including former Sen. Bob Dole. The event marks the first time Pepsi-Cola, the beverage unit of Pepsico, has attempted to stream a commercial online, as well as the first time Yahoo has sold all of its ad space to a single company. Beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m. PST, people can visit the page to view behind-the-scenes footage, a 15-second "teaser," and excerpts from Spears' diary.
