PBS next week will air a one-hour special on the life and career of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs that features interviews and footage with Jobs, along with anecdotes from those who knew him.
The special, which airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, is named "One Last Thing" in honor of Jobs' trademark catch phrase, used when unveiling surprise products and software news at the end of the company's events. (He also frequently use "one more thing.")
"From the vast complexity of time and space to the genius of a man who put technology in the palm of our hands, these extraordinary programs explore the work of two visionaries in science and technology," said John F. Wilson, PBS' senior vice president and chief TV programming executive in a statement about the program.
PBS says those interviewed as part of the special include: Apple co-founders Ronald Wayne and Steve Wozniak; original Apple mouse designer Dean Hovey; NeXT computer investor and U.S. presidential candidate Ross Perot; Jobs and Wozniak matchmaker Bill Fernandez; Wall Street Journal technology columnist Walt Mossberg; Reed College calligraphy professor Robert Palladino; Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am; and writer Robert Cringely.
Along with the interviews, PBS says it's running part of a "never-before broadcast interview" with Jobs from 1994, two years before Apple would buy NeXT and bring Jobs back for the beginning of what would be the company's comeback.
This is the latest documentary about Jobs since his death earlier this month. On October 16, The Discovery Channel aired a documentary about Jobs that was a coordination with NBC entitled "iGenius: How Steve Jobs Changed the World," which also took the form of a one-hour special that was co-hosted by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, the hosts of Discovery's Mythbusters series. There was also Bloomberg's "Game Changers" documentary, which focused on Jobs and aired on October 14, a little more than a week after his passing.
