Palm reaches out to Asian businesses

The handheld giant is expanding its efforts to woo Asian businesses to its hardware and its operating system through two outreach programs.

Palm is expanding its efforts to woo Asian businesses to its handhelds and operating system.

Through its Enterprise Alliance Program, Palm will work with 16 partner companies across Asia--a growing market for handhelds. The regional partner for the program is PwC Consulting, which will help businesses in the Asia-Pacific region integrate mobile capabilities, such as remote access to corporate e-mail, into their existing infrastructure.

Palm will provide support, including training, market development and joint marketing initiatives, to aid the partner companies.

A second new initiative is the Palm Enterprise Hardware Service Program. When a company joins the program, it can take advantage of various features including comprehensive hardware replacement, replacement of non-warranty items such as damaged screens and cases, and immediate on-site replacement of handhelds when needed. Web-based tracking of service orders and repair status is also available.

"Palm's goal is to aid companies in servicing and supporting Palm handhelds in their organization," said Craig Will, Palm's vice president for the Asia-Pacific region.
