Barnes & Noble has expanded its Nook app to 32 countries and 21 different languages.
Previously only available to Windows 8.1 users in the US, the app on Monday found new homes in Australia, Canada, and an array of European countries. Customized storefronts with local books, magazines, and other content are available in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the US.
Users can sign into the app with a B&N Nook account or a Microsoft account. The app itself takes advantage of Windows 8.1 with a screen that displays your library, a Get Started section, popular books, and bestselling magazines. You can also search for books by title or author. And you can import ePub and PDF files from your PC or from Microsoft SkyDrive.
"Nook is one of the leading digital reading platforms in the US and UK and we are confident that new customers across the globe will love our immersive discovery, shopping, and reading experience through our highly-rated Nook app for Windows 8.1.," Jim Hilt, managing director for Barnes & Noble S.a.r.l, said in a statement.
