Nokia Lumia 900 out in the UK on 27 April, white version too

The Nokia Lumia 900 hits the UK later this month, with Phones4u exclusively flogging a white version.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is fluttering into UK shops on 27 April, with Phones4u set to exclusively flog a white version of the Windows Phone-powered smart phone.

If you're desperate to part with your cash before the end of the month, you can pre-order the 4.3-inch Lumia 900 today. If you want to get it for free, expect to throw down a whopping £36 per month on a 24-month contract.

That's an O2 tarriff that nets you 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data. Also currently listed for the black version is a Vodafone deal with the same monthly costs, 900 minutes, 3,000 texts at 750MB of data. A listed Orange contract will cost you more at £41 per month, and gets you 1,200 minutes, 3,000 texts and 250MB of data. I'd expect more tariffs to pop up in the next few weeks.

Carphone Warehouse is also confirmed to be selling the Lumia 900 in shops or online, though currently its product page just lets you register for updates.

As well as laying exclusive claim to a white version of the Lumia 900, if you pre-order, Phones 4u is chucking in a Nokia wireless speaker that can pair with the 900 using NFC.

The Lumia 900 is a tempting proposition -- based on the impressions of our esteemed US colleagues, our four-star review notes that it's a decent choice if you've been charmed by the smaller Lumia 800's classy design but fancy wrapping your mitts around something a bit more substantial. UK-based shoppers won't get the fancy 4G tech that the US version has though.

The classy design, swooping menus and gorgeous display are high points, but siding with Windows Phone means you won't have access to the vast array of apps that iOS and Android folks get to enjoy. Apps tend to be a bit more expensive, too.

Despite Nokia cranking out some great camera phones in the past, the snapper on the Lumia 900 doesn't quite match that of the iPhone 4S. Hope is on the horizon for lens-lovers though, as earlier today we reported that Nokia is rumoured to be cooking up a Windows 8 device that'll employ the company's 41-megapixel PureView camera.
