Nokia upped the ante in its patent dispute with Apple on Friday, filing a new suit in Wisconsin over the iPad.
Five Nokia patents are asserted in the new case against the iPad 3G and the iPhone, Nokia announced in a press release. "The patents in question relate to technologies for enhanced speech and data transmission, using positioning data in applications and innovations in antenna configurations that improve performance and save space, allowing smaller and more compact devices," Nokia said.
last year when it sued Apple for infringing on several of its patents with the iPhone. , countersuing Nokia in claiming it also was infringing on Apple patents with its smartphones.
Those cases are being argued in Delaware court, while the suit filed Wednesday is in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, which Engadget said is the latest "rocket docket" favored by patent plaintiffs for speedy trials. Nokia has also filed claiming a variety of Apple products infringe on its patents.
