Nobody's Home at Government Web Sites

A few museum and library sites have also been shut down including the Library of Congress site, which gets more than 1 million hits a day. No one at the Social Security Administration or the Library of Congress was available for comment.

The White House site is up and running because employees who serve Congress are being kept on payroll. Other government sites that haven't been affected include The Department of Treasury site, The Internal Revenue Service site, and The United States Senate site.
