NEW YORK CITY--In a keynote address today at the Consumer Internet '96 conference, MCI/News Corp Online Ventures editor in chief Anthea Disney had little to say about the online service her company announced four months ago, despite hints from company officials that a major announcement was imminent.
Disney said the service has not yet been launched because, "When you get two corporate cultures coming together, things take a little longer than anticipated." How much longer? Disney said they're looking at the first quarter of 1996 for an official launch date.
The as-yet-unnamed service will be more providers of original content rather than a host of content, said Disney. "I look at this service as being as mainstream as TV Guide--and a personal service as well."
