New York gamers rally against violent stereotypes

In the wake of Monday's shooting massacre at Virginia Tech, video game critics--most notably Jack Thompson--were eager to point fingers at the violent-gaming industry with that games had anything to do with this week's horror. Now, a New York City-based organization is putting together a rally to combat what it says is anti-video-game propaganda that has escalated in the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy.

"Fellowship of the Gamers," set up by gaming community group Empire Arcadia, will take place on May 5 at 1 p.m. Eastern in Manhattan's picturesque Bryant Park.

According to the Empire Arcadia Web site, "We will protest, mourn and show how real gamers play video games peacefully and responsibly. This demonstration is to show that gamers will not take the blame of this tragic matter but we will do what we can to help put an end to terrible events like this."
