Spied by Know Your Mobile, Blackpool Creative's Bryce Haymond rendered the fantasy phone in design software CAD, writing on his blog, "I thought it would be fun to piece together these fragments to see what the iPhone 5 might look like."
The inspiration for the taller-look iPhone comes fromat the end of May, pointing toward a taller iPhone with a striped aluminium back.
that matched that look appeared shortly after, hinting at a 4-inch screen that's taller -- but not wider -- than the ' display, offering a 16:9 aspect ratio when you spin the phone on its side. A video comparing the leaked casing with the stubbier iPhone 4S has .
The taller display would leave room for an extra icon on the created by Technobuffalo.home screen, something reflected in Haymond's render, which uses a mock-up
In the process of creating the virtual smart phones, Haymond says he picked up on a few design touches that may have gone unseen when the parts the render is based on first emerged.
The back of the phone appears to be flush to the metal band that circumvents the phone, whereas the iPhone 4S' back plate stands slightly proud of that surround. This come mean the next iPhone is a little thinner than the current model.
Haymond also notes that the perforated speaker grille spotted on the leaked components would bring the iPhone's design in line with the iPad, which has the same speckled look to its audio bits. The camera, flash, mute switch and volume buttons all seem to have been repositioned slightly.
Apple has -- of course -- said absolutely nothing regarding its next smart phone, so although the new style and screen size seem plausible, it's best not to get your hopes up, as this build could be a clever fake or a since-scrapped prototype design.
Do you think this is Apple's new look for the iPhone? And if so, is it enough to keep the Samsung Galaxy S3 at bay? Hypothesise in the comments or on our Facebook wall.
