MarvelAs the fall release date for "Doctor Strange" edges closer, Marvel has been offering new trailers and photos to give a taste of what's to come from its latest superhero.
According to the official synopsis, the film tells the story of talented but egotistical neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, goes on an international quest to find a cure for his physical injuries only to learn about the power of mysticism and alternate dimensions.
Once back in his Sanctum Sanctorum in New York City, Doctor Strange must use his newly acquired metaphysical abilities and magical artifacts to protect humans from what lies beyond the real world.
In new photos released by Marvel on Monday, we see Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, go on a journey of enlightenment under the tutelage of a Yoda-meets-Pema-Chodron character called the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).
Another photo shows Doctor Strange after he's undergone both magical training and a bit of a fashion makeover. Even more interesting, the second image shows Doctor Strange casting a spell that involves a symbol straight out of the Golden Dawn grimoire.
"Doctor Strange" opens October 27 in Australia, October 28 in the UK and November 4 in the US.
