New and Noteworthy: Apple of Jobs' eye; IT Enquirer on backup utilities; Working miracles with Xserve

Apple of Jobs' eye A Straits Times article notes that Apple's recent iPod successes have changed its approach to selling computers: "Apple is acting less like a computer company and more like brand-brandishing multinationals such as Nike and Virgin." More.

IT Enquirer on backup utilities IT Enquirer has posted a brief comparative review of Retrospect Server 6 vs BRU Server 1.0.1: "BRU Server is the best solution for mission-critical environments and is your best choice if you don't mind the bare GUI and the fact that it will be harder for you to back up to removable discs. If you want a familiar interface with powerful backup features, but somewhat less powerful, less enterprise-level functionality, then Retrospect is a good choice. Unless you need synchronization functionality (for which I would recommend Synchronizer Pro) Retrospect still is a full-scale, very complete backup solution for the Mac." More.

Working miracles with Xserve RAID A Server Watch article covers a non-for-profit's use of Apple's Xserve RAID to keep costs down by editing televised segments in-house. More.
