Apple Design Awards Deadline The deadline for submitting entries to Apple's Design Awards is 9AM PDT Monday, May 17. An Apple statement reads "Show off your ingenuity and speedy code by entering the the Apple Design Awards for Performance Demos. The Apple Design Awards recognize technical excellence and outstanding achievement in Application Software, QuickTime Content, and, new for 2004, Performance Demos. The first category in the Performance Demos contest showcases a commercially available product, while the second demonstrates the performance of key Apple technologies in a unique way." More.

Daystar offers 433 MHz G4 upgrade for Lombard PowerBooks Daystar has begun shipping its new MAChSPEED G4 433 Mhz upgrade for PowerBook Lombard systems. The upgrade requires Lomabrd's to be shipped to Daystart for installation. Standard pricing includes all unit 2-day, 2 way shipping, CPU upgrade installation, testing, and MAChSpeed Control OS9 and OSX installation - additional for US $259. The "Weekender" option (In on Friday, back on Monday) is priced at US$299. More.

IOGEAR debuts shorter Wi-Fi card IOGEAR has introduced a new Wireless-G Notebook Network Card that the company claims makes is unnecessary to remove when stowing your PowerBook. "The 802.11g card's compact antenna board design appears to be almost invisible to laptop users when plugged into a PC's CardBus slot. This makes it very attractive for road warriors who may now leave their Wi-Fi card inside a notebook when traveling. " The card is priced at US $50. More.
