NBN app makes it easy to be a tech-savvy house hunter

Wondering if the NBN rollout has brought high-speed fibre internet to your premises (or, more likely, local node)? Wonder no more.

A new plug-in for the Chrome web browser called nbnm8 will automatically fetch NBN availability for property listings on domain.com.au and realestate.com.au.

Designed by Ben Jenkins, the plug-in adds an NBN tag to search listings on Australia's biggest real estate sites. You'll get either a red cross for unavailable, a clock if it's a planned rollout site or a green tick if it's lucky enough to be connected to that sweet, sweet fibre network.

As the NBN slowly rolls out across Australian households, it's becoming a bigger selling point in the real estate market.

It's worth noting that it's not an officially endorsed NBN app, but if you're looking for a quick way to check if your prospective new home has NBN access, it's a real time saver. If you're planning on some tech-savvy house hunting, you can grab the plug-in here.
