Napster says it has appointed a former Netscape Communications executive as vice president of engineering, a newly created position. Claire Hough will manage ongoing development of Napster's forthcoming subscription service as well as future projects, according to the music file-sharing service.
Hough, who worked at Netscape for five years, was vice president and general manger of the directory and security division. She previously held management positions at companies including eTime Capital, Sybase and the Ingres Products Division of the ASK Group, which was later acquired by Computer Associates. Napster said Hough started in her position this week and reports to Chief Executive Konrad Hilbers.
