Looks like Motorola is prepping a media version of the sequel to its This Is My Next (as well as some signage it's got its hands on), it looks suspiciously like the mysterious Motorola tablet we brought you .tablet. Named the Xoom 2 Media Edition, according to a source leaking info to
Initially thought to be a 7-inch model, it turns out it's an 8.2-incher, according to the source. These square with another source leaking info to Engadget, saying it has an HD IPS display with anti-glare coating. And billed as an e-reader replacement, this has media very squarely in its sights.
Weighing just 430g, it's light enough to be easily held in one hand, the chassis is magnesium and aluminium, and it features curved corners rather than harsh edges. The Gorilla Glass display is also splash-proof, according to the source. There's an infrared remote, and a subwoofer built-in, so expect much more than just reading ebooks on this media powerhouse.
Not much else is known. There's a front-facing camera, and one on the back, and it runs Android 3.2, but that's pretty much it. It seems this'll be the smaller, lighter version compared to the full-fat LTE-enabledwe brought you news of yesterday.
Yesterday we reported news of the Xoom 2 leaking, coming with a SIM card slot for enabling 4G speeds. This Is My Next has since been able to confirm the Xoom 2 will be just 9mm thick, with a 1.2GHz processor, and be able to record 1080p HD video.
