Mitsubishi Licenses Sun's Java

Mitsubishi's electronics device group today announced plans to license Sun's Java programming language along with the HotJava browser.

The electronics giant will use Java to build high-volume, low-cost network devices for both businesses and consumers.

Mistubishi officials said they will embed Java and HotJava in low-cost chipsets to be used for interactive set-top boxes, building control systems, Net-related products, and consumer electronics devices. They declined to announce when further details will be available.
