You might think you know what Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and the rest of the "Harry Potter" crew look like, but you've never seen them like this.
Bloomsbury UK and US-based publisher Scholastic are set to release a fully illustrated version of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in October. They have released a handful of illustrations from award-winning UK illustrator Jim Kay, who has been tapped to illustrate the books. Over the next few years, full-color illustrated versions of all seven books in J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series will be released, with Kay onboard to illustrate them all.
This round of images shows what Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy and Rubeus Hagrid will look like and gives a first glimpse at Kay's version of Hogwarts. The images are seriously jaw-dropping and have us pretty excited for the new editions to hit store shelves. Of all the pieces he has done thus far, Kay tells the Guardian he had the most fun drawing Hogwarts.
"It's been lovely thinking about creating the characters, but, at the moment, my favorite task is creating Hogwarts," Kay told The Guardian. "It's the first time I've thought about building something supported by magic -- it's harder than you'd think."
Check out all six of Kay's illustrations in the gallery above. "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," the first entrant in the fully illustrated heptalogy, will be wizarding its way onto store shelves in the UK, US and Australia in October 2015.
