Macromedia unveils new J2EE Web tools

Web software maker Macromedia announced the release Monday of new scripting tools for creating and deploying Web applications based on Sun Microsystems' Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) software. Versions of ColdFusion MX are available for IBM's WebSphere, Sun Open Network Environment (Sun ONE and Macromedia's Jrun implementations of J2EE. The software is available now from Macromedia, priced at $3,399 for each processor it runs on.

ColdFusion MX is part of Macromedia's new MX family of products, aimed at seamlessly integrating Web applications with content. The software maker acquired the ColdFusion line of server software as part of its acquisition of Allaire two years ago.
