Luke Skywalker's kill count nears 370,000 in Star Wars supercut

And you thought Darth Vader was destructive. A supercut video of a famous Jedi's kill count really racks up the numbers.

Luke Skywalker is one of the good guys in the Star Wars franchise, battling the forces of evil as personified by characters like Sith Lord Darth Vader and all-around-bad-dude Grand Moff Tarkin. But crusading for the light side comes with consequences, and Luke left plenty of bodies in his wake.

A new video supercut tallies the Jedi Knight's kills from the Star Wars movies, so we're not even venturing into the expanded universe. It kicks off with some anonymous Stormtroopers meeting their respective fates at the hands of Luke's blaster. He's a much better shot than the armored baddies who can't seem to hit the broadside of a Death Star.

We also get plenty of dogfight-in-space battles. At one point, a jubilant Luke yells out, "I got him!" At first, the numbers climb slowly upward. It takes just a single massive explosion to run the count from 13 to 368,904 with the destruction of the Death Star. Granted, that's just an estimate of the amount people on board the planet-destroying craft, a number that's up for debate.

This only gets us halfway through the supercut. There are still plenty of AT-AT takedowns, lightsaber battles and flattened aliens to come. The final total by the end is a deadly 369,470. Dang, Luke.

YouTube channel Mr Sunday Movies shared the video Sunday. It's the latest in a series of "kill count" supercuts. You can check out the Darth Vader version to see how Luke stacks up against his nemesis or compare him with Batman's efforts.

The new movie, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," hits theaters December 17 in the UK and Australia, and December 18 in the US. So far, Luke Skywalker's role in the film is a big mystery. It will be interesting to see if Mr Sunday Movie will need to remake the supercut and pad out the Jedi's kill count.
