Linux seller completes name change

The Linux specialist formerly known as Lindows announces that it has completed its name change to Linspire.

The Linux specialist formerly known as Lindows announced Wednesday that it has completed its name change to Linspire. The company agreed to the name change earlier as part of a $20 million legal settlement with Microsoft, which had claimed the original named infringed on its Windows trademark.

MP3.com founder Michael Robertson formed Linspire to sell a desktop version of the open-source Linux operating system with an interface similar to Windows. The company recently scrapped a planned initial public offering.
